Terms of service
The agreement between you and Statistical Networks Ltd for using sdmx.cloud.
Preview draft, 30 September 2026. These terms apply to sdmx.cloud's private preview. They will be reviewed before Production opens, and we will email you before any change applies to you.
Who we are
sdmx.cloud is run by Statistical Networks Ltd, registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@sdmx.cloud. These terms apply when you create an account, use a registry, or use sdmx.cloud's assistant access or directory. By accepting them you agree to them for yourself and, where you act for an organisation, for that organisation.
The service
sdmx.cloud is in private preview. It offers free Developer registries, at addresses ending in .dev.sdmx.cloud, for building and testing. They are not for publishing statistics.
- There is no service level during the preview. The service may be interrupted, changed or ended.
- A registry with no requests for 2 hours goes to sleep and wakes on its next request, which takes about a minute.
- A registry nobody has used for 90 days is marked unused and its organisation is emailed. If it stays unused for 30 more days it is archived. It can be restored for 90 days after that, and is then removed.
- Each registry's database is backed up every night and each backup is kept for 14 days. If something goes wrong, write to us and we can put a registry back as it was on one of those nights; anything changed since is lost. Keep your own copy of anything you rely on as well.
Your account
- Use your own work email address and your real name. An account is for one person.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- People from recognised statistical organisations are verified by their email domain. Everyone else is approved individually, and we may decline or withdraw an approval.
Organisations and names
A registry name belongs to the organisation behind it. We check names against the organisation that claims them, and we may withdraw a name that belongs to someone else or that misrepresents an organisation. An organisation's admins manage its people and registries, and are responsible for who they let in.
Your content
- You keep every right you have in the structures and other content you put in a registry.
- You allow us to store, copy and serve that content only as needed to run the service for you.
- Structures in a registry can be read by anyone through its SDMX web service and its assistant access. Do not put anything confidential in a registry, and do not put personal data in one.
- You must have the right to put the content there.
Acceptable use
Do not use sdmx.cloud to:
- break the law or anyone else's rights;
- try to reach another organisation's registries or accounts, or anything we have not given you;
- probe, attack or overload the service, or get around its rate limits;
- upload malicious code, or send spam;
- pretend to be an organisation or person you are not.
Assistant access
Assistant access lets AI assistants read structures over MCP. It is read-only and rate limited. What an assistant says is produced by that assistant, not by us: check anything important against the registry or service itself.
The directory
The directory lists public SDMX web services: services anyone can read without signing in. These terms cover how we list them.
- Anyone signed in can suggest a service, and a platform admin decides whether to list it.
- A listing nobody has claimed is labelled “Added by sdmx.cloud, not yet claimed”. It states only what the service reports about itself: its title, software, SDMX versions, agencies and how many structures it has. It does not mean the service's owner takes part in or endorses sdmx.cloud.
- An organisation that runs a service can list it, or claim its listing, by publishing a DNS record (TXT at _sdmx-cloud. and the service's domain or a parent of it) that we give its admins. Its listing is labelled “Listed by its owner”, and shows the title, description, what it serves and contact the owner writes, once a platform admin has reviewed them. The owner is responsible for what it writes.
- The record must stay published. We look for it every week; if it has been missing for 14 days, the listing goes back to “Added by sdmx.cloud” and the owner's text is taken off.
- An owner can edit its listing (each change is reviewed), pause it for up to 14 days, or remove it, and can ask that it is not suggested again.
- We check each listed service once a day with one small request, retried at most twice, and read it again about once a week. Every request names sdmx.cloud and gives our contact address.
- For a listed service built on Fusion Registry, sdmx.cloud offers read-only assistant access at mcp.sdmx.cloud. It reads through sdmx.cloud, keeps answers for an hour, and sends that service at most 30 requests a minute.
If you run a listed service and would rather not list it yourself, write to support@sdmx.cloud to correct, rename or remove its listing, or to stop its assistant access. A service removed that way is added to our do-not-list, so it is not listed again except by its owner.
Fees
Developer registries are free. If we offer paid plans later, they will have their own terms, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
Suspension and ending
- You can stop using sdmx.cloud at any time. To close your account, write to support@sdmx.cloud.
- We may suspend or remove an account or registry that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. We will tell you why unless the law or security prevents it.
- If we end the preview, we will email you at least 30 days before removing registries, except where security or the law requires sooner.
Warranty and liability
The service is free and provided as it is, without any promise that it will be available, complete or free of errors.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. Otherwise, we are not liable for loss of data, profit or business, or for indirect loss, and our total liability to you is limited to £100.
Changes and law
Each version of these terms carries its date. If we change them, we will email account holders and ask you to accept the new version when you next sign in.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
